Finding concerts fans are interested in today is painful. Information is spread across multiple sources, and no solution easily addresses the last-minute discovery of events. On the other side, 30% of tickets stay unsold which represents a $15b loss for venues, artists and promoters. Hi Karl is a young start up founded by three developers and entrepreneurs based out of New York, who love music, and saw a huge problem in the music industry. Their mission is to make it extremely easy for users to discover last-minute concerts and music events around them in the next 48 hours. Karl is an AI-powered virtual concierge chatbot which integrates with Amazon’s Alexa and Facebook Messenger aggregating all events happening in an area. Based on a proprietary IP, Karl leverages the user’s listening habits, connecting to the user’s streaming systems, geographic data, and behavioral data to provide relevant concert recommendations for each user. In addition, to reduce the numbers of unsold tickets, Hi Karl allows promoters to push last-minute tickets directly to fans, at the exact time they are looking for an event. Currently Hi Karl is only in Charlotte NC, Memphis & Nashville TN, & New York. The company has plans to expand to multiple larger and urbanized cities alike. Also, the company recently launched Hi Karl for festivals. Users can build their perfect line-up before heading to a festival. When you go to a festival, you know about 20-25% of the artists, let Karl help you out with finding the rest. Users select their festival, the acts they know, plug their Spotify, and let the magic happen. (A V1 so lots of improvement to be expected) Their main consumers are millennials between the ages of 21-25 year olds who are comfortable with using new technology, live in urban cities, and go to concerts and music events several times a month.
